jumping spiders (K.H.)
I think it's really interesting that something so small can jump so far. They use a silk string to jump from place to place. They can jump ten to forty times its body length. Its regular body legnth is about a half inch long, and that is supposedly the biggest kind there is! Jumping spiders are carnivores like most other arachnids. They eat most garden bugs except ants. There are over 4000 different kind of jumping spiders and more than 300 have been found in the U.S. Many of them are brightly colored and have interesting patterns. It can actually identify its prey from up to 12 inches away which is very good for a jumping spider because it's so small. Jumping spiders have 8 eyes. There are four large ones on the top and four small ones above the larger ones. Imagine having eight eyes. because of the many eyes they have, they are said to have great vision. Jumping spider can probably jump so far because their muscles contract quickly which helps the legs extend faster. In my opinion, I think jumping spiders are one of the coolest type of arachnids.
